AWARD RECIPIENTS
Luke Smith is our very first award recipient, and is now part of the 2024 graduation class at
Southeast Lineman Training Center!
We checked in with Luke right before his graduation to find out how life has been since he started SLTC. "This has been such a great experience. I could have gone to college or done other things, but this brotherhood was for me."
Luke graduated 2nd in his class with his grades and tied for top in field work within his pole circle. "I've studied more in one night than any time in high school!" Along with studying his tail off learning about safety, electrical 'stuff' and rigging transformers, students also had to get used to climbing poles up to 35 ft and 60 ft lattice towers. SLTC is "big on safety and they really focus on doing everything right."
Luke has made many friends while there, all who live throughout the US. They've made plans to stay in touch... after all, they're now a part of a brotherhood of those that run toward the storm.
Luke's journey doesn't stop there. He's now joining our Mentorship Matters program, where he'll help inspire and guide the next generation of tradespeople. With his determination and commitment to giving back, Luke is not only building a successful career but also helping strengthen the trades community.
